Welcome to the Northwestern University Sigma Xi Chapter 22 website!

Our chapter recognizes scientific research accomplishments and draws its membership primarily from the University, and the research and development laboratories in the Chicago area. We bring prominent speakers to campus to lecture about matters pertaining to exciting new discoveries or policies associated with science.  We also view education and community outreach as being integral parts of our mission to improve understanding of scientific research, as well as encourage a sense of companionship and cooperation among researchers in all fields of science.

Our primary activities include:

  • Junior Science Cafe - Coming soon, Fall 2008!
  • Science Cafe - new schedule to start September 17 2008- please stay posted!
  • Sigma Xi Travel Grant Award - in conjunction with the Office of the Provost, 2 undergraduate students were chosen this past May at the annual Undergraduate Research Symposium poster competition to attend the Sigma Xi Annual Meeting and Student Research Conference in November 2008.  Their award for winning this competition is Associate Membership in Sigma Xi and all travel expenses paid to attend the conference as representatives of our chapter.

We welcome suggestions of any other opportunities to meet and develop opportunities for collaboration.  If you have a suggestion for events and/or speakers, please contact one of the officers listed to the left.
